STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel has a long tradition in the construction industry. Its defining characteristics are long service life and minimum maintenance costs.
The Chrysler Building in New York is an example of the fine qualities of stainless steel. Although it darkens, the material is still as good as new.
Stainless steel is becoming increasingly common in swimming pool construction thanks to its outstanding material properties. Today, over 80% of stainless steel pools are made from chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel (V4A).
The chloride content/corrosion characteristics of the pool water is the primary factor in determining the correct choice of stainless steel for a swimming pool. A water analysis will determine the chloride content of the water.
Pools are generally filled with drinking water, which has a low chloride content, and grade 1.4404 stainless steel is ideal for use with these.
Thermal and therapeutic waters normally have a higher chloride content, making a higher grade material such as 1.4462 or 1.4547 necessary.
The following figures should be considered as a guideline in selecting a material based on a maximum operating temperature of 30°C.
Up to max. 500mg/l
Material no. 1.4404 (X2CrNiMo17-12-2) AISI 316L
Up to max. 2000mg/l
Material no. 1.4462 (X2CrNiMoN22-5-3)
Up to max. 20,000mg/l
Material no. 1.4547 (254 SMO)

As well as high quality stainless steel, we also use
- Glass and acrylic
- GRP - glass reinforced plastic
- PP - polypropylene
- Stone - an alternative to PP cover grilles
in response to new trends and to incorporate design elements in our pool designs.
